Based in Metro Atlanta and Chattanooga, TN, the members of Crooked Wits originally met while attending Presbyterian College. Stevie (lead guitarist and vocals) was a quarterback, Maggie (fiddle and vocals) was a soccer star, and Spencer (lead vocals, guitar, mandolin, harmonica), well, he sang in the choir. Quickly, the trio bonded over their love of music from jam bands to southern classic rock to bluegrass.
During their college summers, they lived in Black Mountain, NC and frequently played at the old watering hole, The Town Pump. It was there, in the mountains of Western NC, where the group truly got its start. Fast forward to April 2017 when Crooked Wits officially became a part-time band.
Since officially becoming a part-time acoustic trio, they have been hired to entertain crowds at breweries, bars, and private events.
Crooked Wits is refreshing and relatable, covering a wide range of well-known tunes from Grateful Dead to The Steeldrivers and Old Crow Medicine Show to Elton John . With originals also in tow, the acoustic "newgrass" sound of Crooked Wits is truly unique.
